To do so, we use performance data, such as results from practice exams, as well as information about your GMAT preparation experience to determine how to best proceed with your tutoring.
We don’t just teach. We don’t just open the Official Guide and start reviewing practice questions. We actively work with you to analyze and optimize the ways you approach answering GMAT questions, starting with topic-specific lessons that focus on areas you need to strengthen. Then, we adapt those lessons as we go to maximize what we accomplish in each session.
We understand that GMAT success requires a combination of knowing a wide-range of content and being a savvy test-taker with strong time-management skills. So, in addition to teaching high-value concepts, we discuss key strategies that prepare you for the GMAT’s computer-adaptive testing.

Jeff was an excellent tutor, and the only one among a number of tutors I spoke with that I decided to hire. I hired Jeff in the hope that he could help me with my approach to specific problem types: inequalities, distance/rate, work/rate, and absolute values. On multiple occasions, I was able to tell Jeff something to the effect of, "that's exactly what I needed and exactly why I hired you." After the tutoring sessions, I was able to attack problems in under a minute that would previously have eaten up ~3 minutes of my time. On the official test, I ended up having 15 minutes to spare in the math section alone and started doing problems over and over again just to make sure I had the right answer.
Here's the thing about the GMAT: no two people are going to take the same path to a high score. You need a personalized, customized approach, and that's what TTP provides. My tutor spent the time to understand my strengths and weaknesses and then focused on the areas that were easiest to improve. In many instances I knew how to solve the problem but my tutor taught me a shortcut to shave off a few valuable seconds. I would definitely recommend TTP if you're aiming for a high score.

Do you offer tutoring packages at a discount?
To maintain a flexible tutoring experience for our students, all tutoring sessions are offered at an hourly rate. So, you are never locked into a number of tutoring hours that may not fit your evolving needs.
What are your cancellation and rescheduling policies?
We do not have a formal cancellation or rescheduling policy or impose a fee for canceling or rescheduling a tutoring session. We ask only that you respect the time of our tutors and try your best to give advance notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session.
Is any special equipment needed for online tutoring sessions with TTP?
You do not need any specialized equipment, such as a pen tablet or dedicated headset, to connect with a TTP GMAT private tutor online. You simply need a computer that has a microphone. If necessary, you can also use a phone for your tutoring sessions.
Should I still use the TTP self-study course if I get private GMAT tutoring?
The TTP self-study course will continue to be an important asset in your GMAT prep as you receive private GMAT instruction from a tutor. In fact, working with a private tutor will help you more efficiently move through the self-study course, and your tutor will be able to pull data from the course to help personalize your tutoring sessions. For many business school hopefuls engaged in GMAT prep, tutoring and self-study with an online course go hand in hand.
Do I need to purchase the TTP self-study course to engage with a TTP tutor?
Although using our self-study course is not required, it is suggested. Studying with the TTP course will give you a structured way to engage in GMAT preparation when you’re not in tutoring sessions. Also, your GMAT tutor will help craft the best possible path through the TTP course, so you can make the most of both personal tutoring and self-study.

I'm a good test taker, but tried to study on my own the first time around and scored a 690, much below my goal of 730. I then sought a tutor and was put in touch with Target Test Prep/Jeff Miller.
After 4 months of working through the TTP Flex program, I was scoring in the mid 700s on practice tests. I really contribute my improvement to 1) how comprehensive the course was -- it really forces you to learn each chapter and ingrains the information into your memory and 2) my tutoring sessions with Jeff, in which he introduced me to challenging questions that often came up on my practice tests/the real test, and helped explain solutions in ways that weren't conveyed through textbooks/courses.
