Solution:

Let s = the amount of money in Subira's bank account and b = the amount of money in Barak’s account. Since Subira has 2p fewer dollars than Barak, we can write equation 1 as the following:

s=b2p

If together they have 12p dollars in their bank accounts, then equation 2 can be the following:

s+b=12p

We can substitute b - 2p from equation 1 for s in equation 2:

(b2p)+b=12p 2b2p=12p 2b=14p b=7p

Thus, Barak has 7p dollars.
